Research
supported by the AIDS & Infectious
Disease Science Center is aimed at finding new
antibiotics, new treatments that use the body's own immune
system instead of antibiotics, and
methods for administering antibiotic medication into the
body. These methods are especially important for third-world
nations, where the
numbers of infected people are high, but the resources
for storing and distributing necessary treatments are scarce.
